Genius App To Find Lost Children Created by 15-Year-Old
15-year-old Nigerian girl, Tomisin Ogunnubi learned how to code when she was 12 and wanted to create something useful. Her coding skills are changing the technology sector in her country. Ogunnubi created My Locator, an app that helps to locate missing children, an app that has been downloaded 1000's of times since it hit Google Play.
The My Locator app uses Google Maps to track the user’s movements from one location to the next. The user of the app can add an emergency or family number so that they will receive the location of the user in an emergency situation.
In addition, this app has a setting to click on an alert button that will send a text message and call to the number that you’ve designated.
Ogunnubi’s skills have inspired many around her and the curriculum has changed for her school, according to her teacher Kofoworola Cole.
“I feel great after developing the app; though not a professional app, but I have other things agitating my mind to work on. I prefer to keep them to myself for now, because things change and develop over time,” Tomisin Ogunnubi stated. If this isn't black excellence, I don't know what is!
